Beta-2 glycoprotein 1 (beta-2 GPI, apolipoprotein H) is a amino acid polypeptide synthesized by hepatocytes, endothelial cells, and trophoblast cells. Anti-B2-GPI antibodies are more specific in identifying patients with anti-cardiolipin antibodies associated with the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and are found in patients with rheumatic diseases, especially systemic lupus erythematosus. Clinical symptoms of APS are thrombosis, pregnancy complications, thrombocytopenia or hemolytic anemia, nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis.
There is an additional £15 phlebotomy fee for every donation.
